Narrowboat occupants Rosie and Jim, who have for many years stabled their boat at Treadles Wharf, were shocked to find they are to be evicted from their berth.
The ragdoll couple were given three months notice to vacate their berth and either find a new home or become “continuous cruisers”.
Mr Minton, manager of the wharf explained that their berth was never a guaranteed position, and no formal contract was ever signed.
He cited new trans-shipment arrangements with the Merioneth and Llantisilly Railway Traction Company, Sodor Rail and Belborough Transport as reasons that wharf space was limited.
Jim Ragdoll remains adamant that this is not the reason. He cites the recent transfer of the waterside properties to Belborough (Residential) Ltd and Minton Homes Ltd as proof that the area is to be redeveloped as a residential area unsympathetic to the existing waterways users.
